Gravel route through the Catalan Pyrenees

A high-mountain gravel expedition—demanding and immersive—designed for experienced cyclists, with pre-trip preparation included.

Each stage is designed to move through high-mountain terrain, with constant elevation gain, demanding tracks, and long hours on the bike.
This isn’t a transitional route, but a journey that requires effort management and day-after-day continuity.

Day 0 — Arrival to Girona

Arrival in Girona and transfer to the accommodation. A relaxed day to get to know each other, prepare the bikes and review the route.
Girona is the perfect starting point: cycling culture, a great atmosphere and calm before heading into the Pyrenees.

Day 1 — Girona → Rupit (66 km | +1,200 m)

We leave Girona behind via secondary roads and progressive gravel tracks. The landscape slowly changes as we reach the Collsacabra area, with rural paths, forests and stone-built villages.
Rupit welcomes us with its medieval character and a clear first feeling: we are entering another Catalonia, quieter and more authentic.

Day 2 — Rupit → Alpens (56 km | +900 m)

A stage of steady rhythm along forest tracks and lightly travelled rural roads. The terrain invites you to ride, find your pace and enjoy the silence.
Alpens is one of those small villages that rarely appear in guidebooks, yet perfectly define the spirit of the route.

Day 3 — Alpens → La Pobla de Lillet (54 km | +1500 m)

The mountains begin to truly make themselves felt. Long tracks, continuous elevation gain and increasingly open landscapes.
It’s a day to manage your effort and enjoy the surroundings, with sections that cross deep forests and high-mountain areas before reaching La Pobla de Lillet.

Day 4 — La Pobla de Lillet → Ribes de Freser (52 km | +1550 m)

One of the most mountainous stages of the journey. The route gains altitude and moves into more alpine Pyrenean landscapes, combining solitary tracks and historic paths.
Ribes de Freser marks the point where the Pyrenees reveal their strongest character.

Day 5 — Ribes de Freser→ Castelfollit de la roca (77 km | +1450 m)

A demanding high-mountain stage, climbing the Fontlletera forest track to nearly 2,000 metres of altitude. From there, a long descent towards Tregurà de Dalt, linking secondary roads and the Camprodon cycle path.
An intense day combining effort, scenery and flow before reaching Castellfollit de la Roca.

Day 6 — Castellfollit de la roca → Girona (55 km | +900 m)

Final day of the journey. Fast tracks, rural paths and secondary roads bring us back to Girona, closing the loop.
An ideal stage to ride without rushing, reflect on what you’ve experienced and finish the route with great sensations.

Day 7 — Come back home!

Transfer to the airport and end of the trip.
You take home kilometres, landscapes and the experience of having crossed the Pyrenees along paths that are not easily forgotten.
